About Us

​Fitness by Design’s fully equipped, state-of-the-art studio includes weight resistant machines, free weights, cardio machines and all the latest equipment to create a fun and challenging workout environment.
 
We offer Pilates reformer and tower workouts, often combining chair, barre, jump boards and other equipment into our classes.

Biography

​     I’ve been passionate about fitness my whole life and fortunate enough to make a career of it. Over the years, I’ve taught many classes educating and consulting clients in strength and endurance training, weight management and body conditioning. I’ve been a Certified Personal Trainer for over 25 years and Pilates Instructor for more than 15, and regularly take education courses in order to learn and grow in my field.
    
     Teaching people how to eat healthy and create a good balance of strength, endurance and flexibility is important to me.  Awareness of
proper body alignment and learning movement patterns that enhance
performance and prevent injury is also a priority.  I hope to empower many people to live a fit and healthy lifestyle.  Life is too short to wait until tomorrow.

Lynn Mealey

Biography

Lynn Mealey’s passion for mat Pilates began as a student taking classes regularly for overall strength and flexibility.  Lynn quickly realized that Pilates was what she had been searching for.  A workout that was challenging,  showed amazing results and one that she looked forward to each day.  Shortly after becoming a student, she realized that teaching was exactly the right career for her.  She began studying under her Pilates instructor as an apprentice in 2014.  She obtained her group fitness certification and began teaching group mat Pilates classes in 2016.  In 2017, she became a Balanced Body certified mat  Pilates instructor.  Lynn equally enjoys planning her classes as well as teaching them.  She loves to come up with new variations of exercises that keep her classes fresh, fun and challenging.  She strives to bring her students the same joy from Pilates that she has, the joy of looking forward to every class and seeing amazing results. She thrives on witnessing her students gain strength and flexibility and loves to hear each and every success story.  Her classes are focused on using correct breathing and spine alignment to strengthen and tone the entire body.  Balance training and flexibility are also important components of each class. In August of 2024, Lynn obtained her National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) personal training certification.  She offers both one on one and group training sessions.  Lynn designs customized strength training workouts for her clients, ensures proper technique to reduce injury risk and offers motivation and accountability.   When Lynn is not teaching she loves to spend time with her family and friends.  She enjoys lifting weights, practicing Pilates,hiking, spinning and playing with her dogs.

Biography

I was introduced to Pilates over 10 years ago and it truly changed my life. Exercise has always been a part of my life whether it was running, cycling, tennis, golf and most recently pickleball. I firmly believe that exercise is essential in maintaining one’s health. Pilates is the perfect supplement to any form of exercise. It provides the opportunity to connect the mind, body and spirit. Pilates helps you gain spinal mobility as well as stability so that you can move all limbs with a strong foundation. Pilates helps connect your breath to movement. Joseph Pilates said, “breath is the first thing you take and the last”. The Hindus believe that the number of breaths we have in a lifetime is predetermined. It is our job not to waste any.
I have been fortunate to love the work that I did during my career as an Occupational therapist. I have had the privilege of helping people to work towards reaching their goals and gaining independence. Getting trained as a Pilates instructor seemed like a natural transition. Pilates allows me the opportunity to continue to help people in their wellness journey. I researched programs and found that Polestar offered a very in-depth training with more of a rehab focus which aligned perfectly with my background. It is a perfect transition to use my anatomical and functional knowledge of the body to help others achieve and maintain their wellness goals.
My goal is to help people achieve and maintain their best self- physically and mentally through Pilates. I love mixing things up and
always bringing new things into class. I want my clients to feel empowered as well as enjoy their movement experience so they leave feeling re-energized.
When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family. I have 4 children and 3 grand children. Grand children are the best gift.
